CT SCANS
The CT scan (also called CAT scan) produces images of different parts of the body (brain, lungs, lumbar spine, etc).
The apparatus uses an x-ray source similar to that of traditional radiography, but which generates a 3-D image of the anatomical region under examination. CT scans can highlight several abnormalities that are harder to evaluate with other imaging techniques.
When dictated by the clinical information at hand, the examination can be performed with the injection of an iodine based intravenous contrast medium.
Preparation: Drink two large glasses of water before your appointment.
Approximate duration: Less than 10 minutes for a CT scan without contrast medium, and up to one hour when the injection of such a medium is required.
In addition to the usual examinations, our CT scanner is able to perform an examination called DENTASCAN, which is requested by your dental surgeon for the installation of dental implants. This imaging technique enables three dimensional visualization of your jaw. With our CT scanner, we can also perform an examination which allows for the detection of colon cancer: Virtual colonoscopy.
